Hidden GMs Destiny chapter 7 part 2

I’m finally back!! Huge thanks to Estoriel for writing the previous update post for me. As you could read there, I had to change the internet provider and was cut off from the internet for a very long time (for months to be more precise)…x.x

It drove me insane and I don’t know how many tables I flipped in my mind~ I even tried to write a post via my mobile phones (really really really bad) internet connection and the wordpress app, but it didn’t work because the connection was unstable and super slow. I think even a snail is faster…

While I couldn’t even write an update post, I used my mobile phone (or more like tried to…) to read some more webnovels but even that plan more or less failed thanks to the super slow mobile phone internet connection (before I always used my home wlan connection so I was spoiled by it’s speed~). Even I never expected that…

…even text only websites (aka no pictures, no fancy website design, no chats displayed etc. really only a simple background with text over it…) would need to load for 3-5 minutes and then only show a bit of the text (aka text was suddenly cut off). Then the whole page had to be reloaded (my first thought: welcome to a different kind of a “F5 mobile phone version army”) for…. at least 10 times!!!TT_TT”

It was hell… really. Especially if you happily start reading just to notice the text being cut off suddenly, reload, wait and try finding where you have left off and then notice the text being again cut off just to repeat the whole process over and over again…

I also have the habit to like posts on wordpress websites… (some people may have noticed me in the past already on some novel websites *cough*)

…but even this was a journey to hell and back! Of course the like buttons were also not loading for most of the time…so I regretfully could only like a few posts here and there.

Well, the only good point of this internet provider change was being able to read a few books (and safe lots of money cuz the old one changed to ridiculously high prices!) I bought long ago and couldn’t read yet. But I sure realized how much I actually read online…^^” (<–first world problem….)

Long story short:

I’m back and because of the long wait I post a bit more of the seventh chapter. Originally I wanted to release the chapter in two parts but I don’t want to let you guys wait any longer and release a bit now (third part hopefully will follow soon~). The next chapter is also being worked on right now.

Lil’ Update

Heyho! Today it’s not Selkin (author) writing this update post but Estoriel the admin of Cave Scanlations who’s in charge of translating.

So why am I writing today?

That’s because Selkin is (still) flipping some tables

and raging at home

because she was more or less forced to change her internet provider and now couldn’t access the internet for weeks.

They suddenly increased the prices by a lot and their rivals are much cheaper so it was inevitable. And the whole process of changing ones provider is really slow where she lives. I myself fell victim to this too and had no intenet for over two months, just so you know how long this all takes… Else I would have updated you guys much sooner! She should be back around this week though.

As soon as Selkin returns, she’ll post Part 2 of chapter 7. Chapter 8 is already translated but still needs proofreading.

Luckily (or not?) there were no donations so there’s at least not a sponsored chapter queue (that could be really frightening after 2 months for other novel websites!!).

 

Guess while I’m already here and have the chance…. I go and shamelessly try to recruit some proofreaders for Hidden GMs Destiny as well as Gods Ordeal~

(Just as a reminder: Selkins chapters are far longer than many other webnovel chapters, sometimes they can surpass easily 25 pages. Selkin and I do try breaking them up like the Toriel chapter in this case but you really have to be able to invest time for prooreading if you want to apply.)

Hidden GMs Destiny chapter 6 part 4+Donations

I release this part one day earlier than planned because I have a very important appointment tomorrow. As usual I’ll combine the chapter within a weeks time (and also apply some minor text edits).

 

Because donations are a bit rare and I would really love to pay the proofreaders, translator and artist a bit more for their good work and dedication, especially while knowing how much of their already sparse free time they sacrifice. This would also increase the release speed (because they have to work less part time and can invest that time fully on the releases).

With that in mind, I was thinking about maybe introducing a sponsored chapter/part system, additionally to the benefits which are already written on the donation page of course.

Status and Poll for Guild Information (Hidden GMs Destiny)

First of, I have some good news and “not so good news” (I won’t call them bad yet!), as well as a poll regarding a “mini”-wiki about the guilds of Hidden GMs Destiny, more information further down.

Estoriel translated a lot! (<–Good news for you and an overkill for proofreader-san. *cough*) Now to the “not so good” ones… I had another surgery, despite my huge hate for surgeries (it was necessary else I wouldn’t be able to walk so I was forced to *sigh*). So right now I’m recuperating (again…>-<“). So I won’t be uploading much for around a week, two at most. On the bright side, ATK-49 (the Cave Scanlation proofreader) has exams and is unavailable for now but he’ll return around the 25th Sep. (so next weekend) and intends to make up for the wait! So there could be more and faster updates coming (no promises here though cuz if something goes wrong I maybe have to get yet another surgery…*spits blood*) because Estoriel went berserk on translating. On that note there are still 17 pages to be released of the next chapter alone (and the chapter after it is also ready), so a lot to read~ (<–ATK-49 doesn’t know about his “luck” yet *cough*)

Now onto the poll!

Because the lich fight is drawing closer and closer and a few different guilds as well as their members will appear… Do you want a brief overview of the different guild names, their members, classes and levels in advance? (Won’t reveal everything though! Nor will it include all members who appear in the future.)  I’ll leave the poll open until the next release and if the majority votes “yes”, I’ll upload the “mini-guildwiki” together with the next release.

WordPress removed comments on new pages (updated)

Some informations about the comment system with the new wp update (if you like to comment on blogs and don’t know about it yet you should read the following text):

I really love reading everyones comments and just noticed today that wordpress removed the option to allow comments on pages (the ones you find in the menu and all chapters are posted on) with their recent update… So from this day onwards (except they change it in a later update) if you want to leave a comment (and make the author less depressed over this stupid update) please write it in the release post (the pages announcing the release of a chapter/part etc. with the many blabla from the author)! T^T” Honestly I already wondered why there were less comments these days, but now I know.

I really liked the option of comments being posted right under the chapters (also on other websites on which I read other authors works). It was really convenient and you could discuss over a new chapter right away. Furthermore I like reading the thoughts/reaction of other people about a new chapter. Now… in case one starts to read a novel not from day 1 you have to look for every single release post to read comments?! Or have to click back every time to the release posts?! Seriously I wonder what the wp programmers thought by not even allowing people to choose freely if they continue to want comments on their wp sites or not..x.x”

I filled out their survey and  mentioned this problem… I hope enough people think similar and that they implement said option at a later time! *starts praying*

At least wp didn’t remove old comments on pages created before the update…D:”

Edit: Added some tiny explaination in brackets after receiving Merahs question about what the pages and what the release posts are. Long explaination can be found in the reply comment to Merah (which includes also the reasons why most people with novel blogs post as pages).

Edit 2: Thanks to Natsulus help it’s possible again to comment on pages!!! (But really wp couldn’t hide it any better…x.x” Nor did I find anything about it yesterday on my phone *still don’t have a new computer*) So yeah if anyone else is looking for a way to get it back and didn’t found the solution yet, read Natsulus post~

Hidden GMs Destiny chapter 6 part 1

Today I have the first part of chapter 6 for you. There’s also a bonus story coming up next month, so be prepared for some additional “chicken news”. Though I bet many readers either already guessed said “news” or saw the lil spoiler on the website somewhere~

For everyone who didn’t see it yet: I made a little survey for general feedback and in preparations for the extra chapters which will be part of the ebook. It will help me a bit to decide on the extra stories I’ll add to vol 1. If you want to fill it out, here’s the link to the post about the survey.

That being said, I already noticed that many people want a wiki for HGD and Cave Scanlations who translate and proofread it is in dire need for more people (this won’t affect the release speed no worries). So if anyone is interested to help out and get the wiki up faster you can contact the CS admin under cavescanlation@gmail.com! The only requirement is being able to write well in english and read the novel. As a thanks you’re able to read some HGD chapters before the actual release~

I also made a tumbrl account to make it easier for everyone to follow updates who uses tumbrl (should I add a twitter account too?). I added the link on the side bar as well.

Now that Toriel appears for the the first time, there’s also a little drawing of him uploaded on my facebook and tumbrl page.

The poll for the favourite Night Dragon Corporation character is also closed now and here are the results (I’m rounding the numbers up):

Suprisingly (?) the first place goes this time to our MC, Keruna (31%). Looks like he can defeat his superiors at least in this poll. The follow-ups are our (beloved) superiors as a team who took a quarter of the cake (they sure are greedy!). Right after them on the third place is the newly introduced character Kyle who took 17% of the votes (as expected of the right hand man of the empires companies rulers). The fourth place is being shared by Maeda and the “development guy” with both having nearly 10% of the votes. Kaje and the cleaning personal got each 3% and Fienja on her own sadly has no votes but I’m sure she’ll find a good way to unleash her grudge against Keruna sooner or later (she firmly believes that he was the one stealing her votes).

Now onto the next poll~

You can vote for your favourite character from Kerunas guild, at least between the ones who already appeared up to chapter 6.

(Btw the MC is cheating; he shamelessly added himself into the vote as a fellow guild member to increase his popularity in the overall votes!)

 

Now onto the bad news…

My computer died on me, so I have to buy a new one…<-<” Luckily most of the HGD files are safely stored elsewhere as well (hooray for being paranoia and save these files double or even trice), but a few ebook files may have been deleted (and a lot of other data unrelated to the blog…T_T”). I hope I can buy a new comp soon (and that the files aren’t lost else I have to postpone some releases to have enough time and work on recreating/recovering what was lost…), I really dislike writing on my laptops keyboard..>_<” It’s very uncormfortable to use it for hours and I tend to write at the very least a whole chapter once I sit down and even more so if I’m in a good writing flow. So writing without rest for 8-10 h are the norm for me…xD” It’s hell on the laptop with that keyboard… x.x”

So in short: If you notice the releases slowing down after part 1 and the extra chapter, blame my bad luck, my comp dying on me and the fact that I wasn’t able to get a new comp in an instant…>-<” I really hope it won’t be too expensive though, sadly I need a good comp which is able to render some 3D stuff for hours…D:”

P.s: If this continues my posts will at some point be longer than the actual chapters…xD” I think I just broke my record today!

Hidden GM: Extra Chapter Survey

Because I’m writing the extra chapters very soon (to be more precise even more of them), I thought I could do a little survey to see what you would like to read about in the extra chapters!^^ I already have a lot of ideas prepared but this will help me discover more and decide which extra story I’ll focus on first.

This is a good chance for everyone to get a hold on more stories about their favourite characters or reading about something which wasn’t covered (yet) in the main story. This survey is a long-time survey and will at least be up until the lich arc officially ends, so you can take your time filling it out. I also made it editable so you can change your answers until the survey ends.

Sadly Gods Ordeal wasn’t finished proofreading because the last Hidden GM chapter was very long, so I can’t give you that chapter as a cake replacement as I hoped…D: (Maybe the Gustav chapter can make up for it?)
